Texas is wide enough that a good part of this trip is spent leaving it. From El Paso the truck covers about 750 miles before it even reaches Houston, close to half the way to Jacksonville, and a car from Dallas runs east on I-20 into Mississippi before it turns toward the Gulf. If the car is a used one you’ve found in Texas, though, the part to get right comes before any of that is booked, and it’s the title.
Look up its title history on TxDMV’s Title Check before you agree a price. Texas puts a Flood Damage brand on the title of a car an insurer wrote off after a flood, whether the water was fresh or salt, and Florida copies any brand from an out-of-state title onto the car’s Florida registration and onto every Florida title after it, for the life of the car. So a car that leaves Texas branded stays branded once it’s registered here.
A clean title isn’t the whole answer, though, because a brand only appears when an insurer handled the loss, and a flooded car that nobody claimed on leaves no record at all. That’s why, for a car from Houston or anywhere along the coast, it pays to have someone look underneath and inside for silt and rust in places that are hard to reach before the money changes hands, and around Dallas, where hail claims run higher than almost anywhere in the country, to check for hail repairs as well.

Shipping a car from Texas to Florida costs between $950 and $1,550 for open transport. Dallas to Orlando is the cheapest of these routes and San Antonio to Miami the dearest, enclosed transport adds about 40 to 70%, and the price you're quoted holds for 28 days once you book.
Shipping a car from Texas to Florida takes an estimated 3 to 5 days. Dallas to Orlando is about 1,090 miles and San Antonio to Miami about 1,380, and since the driver is collecting and delivering other cars along the way, where your car sits in that run matters as much as the distance.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
One to two weeks ahead is enough on most routes. Busy corridors handle shorter notice, and quieter lanes benefit from the full two weeks. Booking earlier does not lower the price; it settles your dates sooner, and the quote is locked for 28 days either way.
Wash the car so its condition is easy to record, photograph it from each corner, and leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Take out anything above the 100 pound personal item allowance, and take your toll transponder such as FasTrak, E-ZPass or SunPass off the windshield, because toll gantries can read it while the car rides the truck. Have a working key ready for the driver.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
You can cancel for free up to 7 days before pickup. After that, the deposit is non-refundable.
