Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.

We had to send the car back to the dealership in Georgia and Sequoia did a really great job for us. Highly recommended!!!
Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.

More people move to Washington from California than from any other state, by a wide margin, so a good share of the cars arriving here come up I-5 through Oregon, while a car leaving the Seattle side for anywhere east has the Cascades to cross first, usually on I-90 over Snoqualmie Pass. For a car coming in, the part that needs planning happens after delivery, in the first month, because how soon the car is registered decides whether Washington taxes it.
Not if you owned and drove it in another state for more than 90 days before moving, and register it here within 30 days of arriving. Both conditions have to hold, so a car bought shortly before the move owes Washington’s use tax, less any sales tax already paid on it, and a car that would have been exempt can lose that by being registered late.
The 30 days go faster than they sound, because Washington wants your driver’s license first, and licenses and cars are handled at separate offices. So it’s worth starting on the license as soon as you’ve moved, and keeping the title within reach, or your lender’s details if the lender holds it, since the vehicle licensing office works from one or the other.

If the move makes you a Washington resident, these are the state's rules for the car.
Checked October 2026 against Washington Department of Licensing, Department of Revenue, Department of Ecology, State Patrol. Rules change; the state's own site has the final word.

Shipping a car to or from Washington typically runs $900 to $2,750 for open transport, depending on the corridor and the car. California lanes run $900 to $1,500, Colorado and Arizona $1,000 to $1,550, Texas $1,550 to $2,000, and Florida, on the far side of the country, $2,100 to $2,750. Enclosed transport costs about 40 to 70% more, rising with distance, and once you book, the price holds for 28 days.
A Washington shipment takes an estimated 3 to 9 days on the truck. Cars to or from California, Colorado and Arizona usually take 3 to 5 days, Texas 4 to 7, and Florida 6 to 9, because the driver is loading and unloading other cars along the way.
Yes, within 30 days of moving to Washington, and you'll need a Washington driver's license before the car can be registered. Nothing has to be tested first, because Washington ended emissions checks on January 1, 2020 and checks an ordinary car from another state against theft records on paper rather than inspecting it. The car also needs liability insurance from an insurer authorized in Washington.
To ship a car, request a quote with your origin, destination, and vehicle details. Sequoia matches you with a driver according to your pickup window, the driver picks up your vehicle, and delivers it at your destination.
One to two weeks ahead is enough on most routes. Busy corridors handle shorter notice, and quieter lanes benefit from the full two weeks. Booking earlier does not lower the price; it settles your dates sooner, and the quote is locked for 28 days either way.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
You can cancel for free up to 7 days before pickup. After that, the deposit is non-refundable.
