Insured Transport
Insured under federal cargo liability requirements. Coverage is part of the quote, not an add-on.
Most cross-state moves cost $500 to $1,900 and take 2 to 8 days, door to door.
Shipping a car to another state runs on a simple chain: you get a quote, we assign a driver, the driver picks the car up, and it is delivered at the other end. You book online and choose a pickup window. Nothing is charged until 7 days before pickup, and the balance is paid to the driver when the car arrives.

Your quote is locked for 28 days. Cancel free up to 7 days before pickup.
Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.
One percent of every booking funds Clean Air Task Force, a nonprofit working on transport and energy emissions.

We confirm a vetted carrier and schedule the pickup. A small deposit goes through then; nothing before.
The carrier picks up at your door and delivers to the address you gave us. The balance is paid at delivery.
Most interstate shipments fall within these ranges. Distance is the biggest single factor; enclosed transport adds 30 to 45%.
| Distance | Open | Enclosed |
|---|---|---|
| Under 500 miles | $500 to $800 | $750 to $1,150 |
| 500 to 1,500 miles | $800 to $1,300 | $1,200 to $1,800 |
| 1,500 to 2,500 miles | $1,000 to $1,700 | $1,500 to $2,400 |
| Coast to coast | $1,200 to $1,900 | $1,800 to $2,800 |
Ranges are typical retail for a standard sedan. Larger vehicles take more space on the trailer and cost more. Your exact price comes from the quote widget.
A common tactic in the industry: post a low quote to attract clicks and capture a deposit. Then, two weeks before pickup, come back saying no driver will take the load at that price and ask for an extra $400 or more. The customer has already committed and feels stuck.
A quote that is 30% below the rest is a warning sign, not a deal. The honest floor for any shipment over 500 miles is about $500 to $700 for a sedan on open transport, more for larger vehicles or enclosed.
Sequoia does not work that way. The price you see is the price you pay, locked for 28 days. If something on your shipment changes the price (carrier scarcity on a sparse route, an unusual vehicle), we tell you before you book, not after.
| Distance | Transit time |
|---|---|
| Under 500 miles | 2 to 3 days |
| 500 to 1,500 miles | 3 to 5 days |
| 1,500 to 2,500 miles | 4 to 7 days |
| Coast to coast | 5 to 8 days |
Transit times are estimates. Carrier scheduling and route conditions set the actual timeline, and we give you the driver's number so you can confirm as it gets close.

Shipping a car to another state costs roughly $500 to $1,900 for open transport, depending on distance. A neighboring-state move runs $500 to $800; a coast-to-coast move runs $1,200 to $1,900. Enclosed transport adds 30 to 45%, and larger vehicles cost more than a standard sedan.
To ship a car to another state, request a quote with your origin, destination, and vehicle details. Sequoia matches you with a driver for your pickup window, the driver picks up your car, and delivers it at the destination. You book online; nothing is charged until 7 days before pickup.
Most cross-state shipments take 2 to 8 days, depending on distance. A trip under 500 miles takes 2 to 3 days, a 1,500-mile move takes 3 to 5 days, and coast to coast takes 5 to 8 days. These are estimates set by the carrier's schedule and route conditions.
You or someone you authorize needs to be present at both ends to hand over the keys, sign the inspection report at pickup, and check the car at delivery. It does not have to be you. Plenty of customers have a partner release the car in the old state and a friend or family member receive it in the new one. Give us the names and numbers and we coordinate with each of them directly.
No. Registration and shipping are separate. We move the car as it is, on its current plates and title. Registering it in your new state is something you handle at the local DMV after you arrive, usually within a set window of establishing residency. Shipping the car does not change that timeline either way.
You can leave up to 100 pounds of personal items in one piece of luggage, placed in the trunk or cargo area. Some carriers will accept additional weight for an added fee; we can arrange this for you after booking.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
