Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.

Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.
It is a really professional company, and the service was great, and we also really value the environmental contributions they are doing. Thank you guys!! Will move my car again with you ❤️
We had to send the car back to the dealership in Georgia and Sequoia did a really great job for us. Highly recommended!!!

If the car is coming from an Alabama dealer, the day it leaves matters more on this lane than the day it arrives, because Alabama’s tax rule for buyers from out of state runs on a three day clock. Once it’s on the road it’s a long, plain run north, a little under 1,000 miles from Birmingham to New York City by way of Chattanooga and the Shenandoah Valley.
Not if the car is out of Alabama within three days of the sale. For a car that will be registered in New York, Alabama waives its sales tax entirely, state and local, as long as you or someone acting for you takes it out of the state inside that window and the dealer keeps a signed drive-out certificate. Miss the window and Alabama’s tax applies, and New York gives no credit for it when it charges its own sales tax at registration, so the same car ends up taxed twice. Pickups are scheduled as a window rather than a fixed day, which is why it’s worth booking the shipment first and then setting the sale date with the dealer around it.
Hurricane season on the coast runs from June to November, and it’s a coast that takes direct hits, as it did when Sally came ashore at Gulf Shores in September 2020. A storm like that stops pickups along the coast until it has passed and the roads are clear. Most of the season’s storms come between the middle of August and the middle of October, so a car in Mobile or Baldwin County is better booked with a little give in the date during those weeks.

If the move makes you a New York resident, these are the state's rules for the car.
Checked September 2026 against New York DMV. Rules change; the state's own site has the final word.

Shipping a car from Alabama to New York takes an estimated 3 to 5 days. The trip runs roughly 920 to 1,330 miles, and from Birmingham most of it is I-59 to Chattanooga and then I-81 north through Tennessee and Virginia's Shenandoah Valley toward New Jersey and the city.
Yes, within 10 days of registering it there. Alabama doesn't inspect private cars at all, so unlike a car from a state with inspection stickers, an Alabama car has nothing to carry over and goes straight into New York's safety and emissions check.
If you find damage at delivery, note it on the bill of lading before signing. We will manage the claim with the carrier from there.
You can cancel for free up to 7 days before pickup. After that, the deposit is non-refundable.
To ship a car, request a quote with your origin, destination, and vehicle details. Sequoia matches you with a driver according to your pickup window, the driver picks up your vehicle, and delivers it at your destination.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
