Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.

We had to send the car back to the dealership in Georgia and Sequoia did a really great job for us. Highly recommended!!!
I'm really happy with the service!!! Fili is a really nice person and a professional.
Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.

Most cars on this lane go east on I-80 from start to finish, around 1,100 miles from Des Moines to New York City, and through most of the year the trip needs little from you beyond having the car ready. Winter in Iowa is the season to plan around, and if you’re buying the car, so is New York’s yearly inspection.
Between December and March, Iowa’s worst storms bring wind across open, flat country that turns falling snow into whiteouts, and the state closes stretches of I-80 until it clears. The blizzard of January 2024 kept roads shut for a day or two, and most closures are over sooner, so a pickup booked into one moves by about that much and the rest of the trip runs as normal.
Spring can bring something similar out in the country, since counties may close a road softened by the thaw to heavy trucks, which can mean meeting the driver on the nearest paved highway instead of at the house.
The emissions part comes down to the check engine light, so ask the seller about it first. Iowa doesn’t test emissions, so the car may never have been checked, while New York tests most cars every year through their own diagnostic system, and a check engine light that stays on fails. New York gives you ten days after registering to pass, so if the light is on, have the cause found and fixed while the car is still in Iowa.

If the move makes you a New York resident, these are the state's rules for the car.
Checked September 2026 against New York DMV. Rules change; the state's own site has the final word.

Shipping a car from Iowa to New York costs between $900 and $1,450 for open transport. Enclosed transport costs about 40 to 70% more, rising with distance. Cedar Rapids to New York City sits near the bottom of that range and Sioux City near the top, and once you book, the price holds for 28 days.
Shipping a car from Iowa to New York takes an estimated 3 to 5 days. The trip runs roughly 1,030 to 1,310 miles, nearly all of it on I-80, and in winter a storm in Iowa can push the pickup back by a day or two.
Yes, within 10 days of registering it in New York. Iowa doesn't issue inspection stickers, so there is no out-of-state inspection to carry over, and the car needs a New York safety and emissions inspection soon after it gets New York plates. A new resident has 30 days to register, and New York won't register the car on an Iowa insurance policy, so New York coverage comes first.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
Yes. Every toll, bridge and congestion charge the truck pays on the way is already in your quote, and nothing is added for them after you book.
To ship a car, request a quote with your origin, destination, and vehicle details. Sequoia matches you with a driver according to your pickup window, the driver picks up your vehicle, and delivers it at your destination.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
One to two weeks ahead is enough on most routes. Busy corridors handle shorter notice, and quieter lanes benefit from the full two weeks. Booking earlier does not lower the price; it settles your dates sooner, and the quote is locked for 28 days either way.
