Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.

For a carrier this is a short run, a day or so on the road from almost anywhere in New York, and a common one, since New York sends Pennsylvania more new residents than any state but New Jersey. The part to plan is the week after the car arrives, because a New York inspection sticker doesn’t carry over and Pennsylvania wants its own inspection within ten days of registering.
Not to park. Philadelphia doesn’t allow a tractor trailer to park on any residential street, and a loaded carrier is one, so if the car is going to a rowhouse block, the handover happens on a wider street nearby or in a lot where the truck is allowed to stand. Tell us the address when you book, and if you know a good spot close by, that helps too.
In the worst winter storms Pennsylvania restricts trucks on its interstates and the Turnpike, in levels that tighten as the weather gets worse. At the top levels no commercial truck is allowed on those roads at all, a car carrier included, so a delivery caught behind one waits until the restriction lifts, even if your own street is clear.

If the move makes you a Pennsylvania resident, these are the state's rules for the car.
Checked September 2026 against PennDOT. Rules change; the state's own site has the final word.

Shipping a car from New York to Pennsylvania costs between $650 and $1,200 for open transport. Enclosed transport costs about 40 to 70% more. Rochester to Philadelphia sits near the bottom of that range and Albany to Pittsburgh near the top, and once you book, the price holds for 28 days.
Shipping a car from New York to Pennsylvania takes an estimated 2 to 3 days. The trip itself is short, roughly 320 to 450 miles on the routes above, so most of that time is the pickup window rather than the drive, and in a bad winter storm Pennsylvania can keep trucks off its interstates until it passes.
One to two weeks ahead is enough on most routes. Busy corridors handle shorter notice, and quieter lanes benefit from the full two weeks. Booking earlier does not lower the price; it settles your dates sooner, and the quote is locked for 28 days either way.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
To ship a car, request a quote with your origin, destination, and vehicle details. Sequoia matches you with a driver according to your pickup window, the driver picks up your vehicle, and delivers it at your destination.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
Open transport is the standard choice for most vehicles. Enclosed transport costs 40 to 70% more and is appropriate for high-value vehicles, classics, low-clearance sports cars, and any car where weather exposure or road debris is a real concern.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
