Most shipments run door to door. If access is tight (narrow streets, low clearance), we will arrange a nearby meeting point.

We had to send the car back to the dealership in Georgia and Sequoia did a really great job for us. Highly recommended!!!
Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.
It is a really professional company, and the service was great, and we also really value the environmental contributions they are doing. Thank you guys!! Will move my car again with you ❤️

From Newark or Cherry Hill it’s the better part of 2,800 miles to Los Angeles and about a week on the truck, and the part of this move that needs your attention happens back in New Jersey, in the order you hand in the plates and end the insurance.
Not until the plates are back with the Motor Vehicle Commission or California has registered the car. As long as it’s registered in New Jersey, the state expects it to be insured there, and if your insurer reports the policy cancelled, the MVC sends a suspension notice, which only the plate receipt or the new California registration settles. There’s no reason to rush the plates either, since New Jersey refunds nothing for the months left on a registration when you move away. So once California has given the car its own plates, the old ones go back to any MVC agency, at the counter or in the drop box outside, or by mail, and the MVC mails you a receipt. Keep it, because that receipt is what lets the insurance end cleanly.

If the move makes you a California resident, these are the state's rules for the car.
Checked September 2026 against California DMV, California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. Rules change; the state's own site has the final word.

Shipping a car from New Jersey to California costs between $1,750 and $2,200 for open transport. Cherry Hill to Los Angeles is the cheapest of these routes and Newark and Cherry Hill to San Francisco the dearest, enclosed transport costs about 40 to 70% more, and once you book, the price holds for 28 days.
Shipping a car from New Jersey to California takes an estimated 5 to 8 days. Every route here is between 2,700 and 2,900 miles, so where a car lands in that range depends more on the driver's other pickups and drop-offs than on which end of New Jersey it leaves from.
Not if you buy from a New Jersey dealer and live in California with no home in New Jersey. You fill in New Jersey's Form ST-10 for nonresident buyers, the dealer sends it to the state, and no New Jersey tax is charged, which means California collects its use tax in full when you register the car there.
Yes. Every toll, bridge and congestion charge the truck pays on the way is already in your quote, and nothing is added for them after you book.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
You can leave up to 100 pounds of personal items in one piece of luggage, placed in the trunk or cargo area. Some carriers will accept additional weight for an added fee; we can arrange this for you after booking.
Open transport is the standard choice for most vehicles. Enclosed transport costs 40 to 70% more and is appropriate for high-value vehicles, classics, low-clearance sports cars, and any car where weather exposure or road debris is a real concern.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
Wash the car so its condition is easy to record, photograph it from each corner, and leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Take out anything above the 100 pound personal item allowance, and take your toll transponder such as FasTrak, E-ZPass or SunPass off the windshield, because toll gantries can read it while the car rides the truck. Have a working key ready for the driver.
