Jacksonville is a spread out city split by water, and that shapes a shipment here more than the road out does. The city takes in all of Duval County, more land than Houston, with the St. Johns River and the Intracoastal running through it, and much of the recent growth is to the south around Nocatee and Ponte Vedra, so two Jacksonville pickups can be a long way apart. Once the car reaches I-95, or I-10, which begins here, it’s an ordinary long-distance run.
Most autumns, and it doesn’t take a hurricane. The river drains slowly north to the ocean, so when a nor’easter pushes seawater in on top of the high autumn tides, it backs up over the low streets of downtown, San Marco and Riverside. The downtown gauge reached flood stage in ten of the eleven years from 2015 to 2025, nearly always between September and November. If your car is parked on one of those streets, a pickup that lands on a high tide can wait for the water to drop, or you can meet the driver on higher ground nearby.
Those same streets are why a used car from the riverfront deserves a question about water before you buy it. Irma pushed the river to its highest level since 1846 in 2017, and a flooded car only carries a flood title if an insurer wrote it off, so a free NICB VINCheck is a start, and a local mechanic’s look for silt and a musty smell is the rest.
A pickup on the Southside, in Arlington or at the Beaches has to cross the St. Johns or the Intracoastal on its way out of town, which matters when a tropical storm comes through. Once sustained winds get past about 40 mph, police can stop traffic on the bridges, and a pickup on the far side waits until the wind drops and they reopen.

Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
Wash the car so its condition is easy to record, photograph it from each corner, and leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Take out anything above the 100 pound personal item allowance, and take your toll transponder such as FasTrak, E-ZPass or SunPass off the windshield, because toll gantries can read it while the car rides the truck. Have a working key ready for the driver.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
Open transport is the standard choice for most vehicles. Enclosed transport costs 40 to 70% more and is appropriate for high-value vehicles, classics, low-clearance sports cars, and any car where weather exposure or road debris is a real concern.
