Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.

Dallas is an easy city to ship a car from, with free interstates leaving in every direction and carriers passing through all year, so what takes planning here is small and close to home. It comes down to being ready when the truck arrives, a few icy days most winters, and, if you’re buying a car here, a careful look for hail.
Not for long. In the City of Dallas a truck can stop on a residential block to load and unload, but the city code doesn’t let it park there and wait, so the handover is quickest when you and the car are ready as the driver arrives. If your street is narrow or lined with parked cars, a nearby parking lot is often easier for both of you.
North Texas rarely gets much snow, but most winters bring a few days of sleet and freezing rain, usually in January or February. It ices the elevated lanes, bridges and overpasses first, and the roads stay unsafe for a loaded truck until they thaw, which tends to take two to four days, so a pickup that falls in one of those weeks can move by about that much.
Large hail falls on the Dallas area nearly every spring, and Dallas and McKinney were both among the five US cities with the most hail claims from 2017 to 2019. So a car that has lived here may have dents, or a repair behind it. If you’re buying one you haven’t seen, ask the seller for photos of the roof, hood and trunk lid in low, angled light, since that is when small dents show, and if the photos still leave doubt, have a body shop near the seller look it over while the car is still in Dallas.

Shipping a car from Dallas typically costs $0.75 to $1.60 per mile, depending on distance and destination. In totals, that's $700 to $950 to New Orleans, $850 to $1,150 to Chicago, and $1,300 to $1,600 to Boston. Once you book, the price holds for 28 days.
Most shipments out of Dallas take 2 to 6 days door to door. New Orleans and Atlanta usually run 2 to 4 days, Chicago 3 to 4, Los Angeles 3 to 5, and New York and Boston 3 to 6. These are estimates, because the driver is usually carrying other cars with stops of their own.
Dallas to Los Angeles is about 1,440 miles and quotes $1,000 to $1,250 for open transport, with an estimated 3 to 5 days door to door. The truck takes I-20 west out of Dallas and joins I-10 in west Texas for the rest of the run.
Nothing is charged at booking. The deposit is charged 7 days before your pickup window opens, and the remaining balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
If you find damage at delivery, note it on the bill of lading before signing. We will manage the claim with the carrier from there.
Wash the car so its condition is easy to record, photograph it from each corner, and leave about a quarter tank of fuel. Take out anything above the 100 pound personal item allowance, and take your toll transponder such as FasTrak, E-ZPass or SunPass off the windshield, because toll gantries can read it while the car rides the truck. Have a working key ready for the driver.
The truck waits until the road is safe to drive, and your pickup or delivery date moves with it. We'll confirm the driver's new window with you as soon as the road reopens. Snow on the mountain passes and in the northern states, and hurricanes along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts, are the usual causes.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
