Professional service and reasonable price considering they had to winch my car on the trailer.

Chicago sits where every major freight corridor crosses, I-90, I-94, I-80, I-55 and I-65, and that geography does most of the work. A carrier heading almost anywhere in the country passes through or near the city anyway, so there is nearly always a truck going your direction. Short notice hurts less here than almost anywhere else. It shows up in the price too: Chicago runs at the cheaper end of the per-mile spread for Midwest cities, roughly $0.60 to $1.40 depending on how far the car is going.
Most pickups happen at the address. In the older, tighter parts of the city, Lincoln Park or Wicker Park, a full trailer cannot get down the street, so the driver arranges a meet point nearby on the confirmation call. Out in Naperville, Schaumburg or Evanston, none of that comes up.
Winter is the one thing worth planning around. January and February storms close roads for a day at a time, which pushes a pickup back rather than cancelling it, so build a day of slack into a deep-winter move. Southbound prices climb from October through December as well, because snowbird demand pulls carriers toward Florida and Arizona and thins out what is left heading that way.

Most pickups happen at your home address. In dense city neighborhoods (Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, parts of the South Loop), the trailer cannot enter narrow residential streets. For those addresses, we arrange a nearby meet point on the confirmation call after booking.
If you find damage at delivery, note it on the bill of lading before signing. We will manage the claim with the carrier from there.
Every shipment is insured by the carrier under federal cargo liability requirements.
